Gotta admit that I never thought I'd see the day when I endorsed Laura Owens' paintings. I've never been a big fan of them. There have been a few decent pictures along the way but nothing epic or sustained. That said, her show at GAVIN BROWN, LA is a MUST SEE. EPIC, AMBITIOUS, GOOD-LOOKING. The paintings are more "designed" than painted but they are really sorted out.
What they lack in narrative they more than make up for in every other department. I"m heartily endorsing them. Don't miss them. They're up until June.
